Caption Editor

Captions are text items that appear on your screen in Capital Investment Budget. It can be the name of a button, a message that pops up after a user performs an action, the contents of menus, and more. The Caption Editor allows you to change those captions inside the application.

Occasionally, the default caption contains an at sign (@) followed by the name of a caption key (e.g., @:Company.code). This means, similar to a variable, this caption is displaying the caption text of another key. Therefore, changing a caption also changes any other caption that references its key.

To change a caption:

1. Click Application Menu > Administration > Caption Editor.
2. The Locale is set to "en-us".
3. Search for the caption you want to find by entering text from the caption in the search field of the key or caption columns. This produces a list of captions that match your search criteria.
4. Navigate to the caption you would like to change and click > Edit.
5. Enter the new caption in the field Custom Caption, then click Submit.
