Audit Log Settings

Use the Audit Log Settings page to enable or disable the audit log for specific components of the application.

By default, the audit log rolls over 30 days or when the log reaches 100,000 entries. Front-end records and master data records are stored in the same audit log location, therefore these thresholds apply to the sum of all audit log records. The Scheduled Job Audit Log Rolling Task runs daily by default to verify if the audit log has passed these thresholds (and therefore needs to be rolled or not). Audit Log records that have passed the rolling threshold are saved as a CSV ZIP file and stored on the Download Files page.

Warning: By default, the Audit Log records manual changes, and does not record new objects created or changes performed through Excel uploads or mass imports, nor does it record changes due to an SAP sync. For information about the user that triggered these tasks and when it was done, refer to the Service Log. Note that the logging of changes in Master Data Configuration due to Excel upload can be enabled on this page, however there will be an impact on application performance.

For information about the Audit Logs in the front-end of the application, refer to the User Guide. For information about the Audit Logs for Master Data Configuration, refer to Audit Log.

Warning: Any single user action that generates more entries than the overload limit will not be recorded in the Audit Log. For example, importing a large Excel file to Master Data Configuration (where one configuration table entry update may result in multiple log entries) may cause the Excel import to be skipped in the audit log. In this case, the application logs a warning indicating that the action was skipped in the CDS log.

Note: Transactions are not logged in the Audit Log, but can be exported in the Transaction Reports.

To enable or disable the Audit Log:

  1. Click Application Menu > Settings > Audit Log Settings.
  2. Enable or disable the switches as needed.
  3. Click Save.

The following switches are available to set Audit Log:

Enable Audit Log Viewer in Main Menu

Enables the audit log viewer in the main menu of the application. It allows users to view the content of all available audit logs.

Note: To enable the application-level log viewer, the other front-end Audit Log switches have to be enabled. Enabling this switch alone will not enable any logging.

Enable Audit Log for Batch Task

Enables the logging of changes made to batches. When enabled, the log is available in the context menu of each batch and in the Audit Log Viewer.

Enable Audit Log for Master Data Config

Enables the logging of the master data from the Master Data Config page. When enabled, it appears as a new tab in the Master Data Config page.

Enable Audit Log for Master Data Config Using Excel Upload

Enables the logging of changes made to Master Data Configuration via Excel upload.

Note: Regardless of the position of this setting, information about the user who triggered the Excel upload and when it was performed is still recorded in the Service Log.

Note that any single Excel upload that generates more entries than the overload limit will not be recorded in the Audit Log. Therefore, importing a large Excel file to Master Data Configuration (where one configuration table entry update may result in multiple log entries) may cause the changes from the Excel import to be skipped in the audit log. In this case, the application logs a warning indicating that the action was skipped in the CDS log.

Note: The switch "Enable Audit Log for Master Data Config" must also be enabled.

Warning: Enabling this setting will impact application performance.
