Average Span of Control

The average number of employees per manager in the node, including its children, but is not calculated when a manager position is vacant or does not exist.

Calculation details: (Total number of employees – number of occupied manager positions)/ (Number of occupied manager positions)

For example in the image below, the total headcount of 53 is subtracted by the number of occupied managers positions 4, then divided by the total number of managers 4 to give you an Average Span of Control of 12.25.

(53-4)/4 = 12.25

Case 1

The manager position exists but it is vacant then there is no Average Span of Control to calculate.

There is more than one Manager, the calculation
