Simulations
You can create a simulation of a Financial Obligation Report to assist with budgeting and planning. Simulations are created from a previously generated Financial Obligation Report and use pre-defined assumptions to simulate future amounts for your expenses.
Before running the simulation, you must first enter assumptions on the Basic Information page of the report. Assumptions allow you to enter predictions of what you believe the percentage change for a specified expense category will be for a specific date range.
To create assumptions:
- Click Main Menu
> Mass Operations > Financial Obligation Management > Reports, and select the report you would like to simulate. Note that the report must be in generated status. - On the Basic Information page, click
in the Assumptions table. - Click New Assumption. A new entry appears in the table.
- Set the Expense Category for the assumption.
- Select a Date Source:
- User Defined: Set the date range for the assumption using the From and To fields.
- Inherit: Uses the start and end dates of the report.
- Set the Percentage Change.
- Repeat steps 3 to 6 until all assumptions have been entered.
- Click Update.
Once you have created your assumptions, you can then view their effects on the Report View page.
To create a simulation:
- Click Regenerate to update the report. Note that if any assumptions are added or updated, you must regenerate the report again.
- Click the Simulation switch at the top of the report. The report now displays amounts based on the assumptions.
