Milestones

You can define and modify milestones in the Milestones/Tasks tab. Milestones track a period in time within the project life cycle and are often used to define significant events or deliverables, such as the projects start and end dates or the completion of a major phase of work.

To copy or delete an existing milestone, click in the Actions menu and select the required action. Note that modifying any of the milestone dates when copying resets all associated task dates to the milestone "Date From" date.

To add a milestone:

  1. Click Project in the application menu and open the required project.
  2. Click the Milestones & Tasks tab.
  3. Click Create Milestone to open the Create Milestone window.
  4. Set the fields required in the General Information section. Note the following:
    • Enter an optional Display ID otherwise one will be automatically generated.
    • The % of Project field cannot sum up to more than 100 between all milestones in the project.
    • If a user is added as an Approver, they are automatically added an a Participant on the People tab.
    • If an Approver has been defined and the milestone Status is completed, you can set the Approval Status to either "Approve" or "Reject". The Approval Date is then automatically set to the current date. Note that if the Status is changed to "In Progress" or "On Hold", the Approval Status is reset to "In Progress" and any Approval Date is cleared.
  5. Add the date information relevant to your milestone in the Dates section. Note the following:
    • The Date From and Date Targeted are the milestone start and end dates.
      • The Date From must fall within the project's Start Date and Due Date (defined on the Identification tab).
    • The Schedule To/From date is automatically set to the Possession Date defined in the project, but can be modified as needed.
    • Setting No of Days to Schedule field sets the Date Targeted to the Schedule To/From date plus the number of days defined in the No of Days to Schedule field. For example, if the Schedule To/From date is January 1st, and the No of Days to Schedule is 5, the Date Targeted will be January 6th.
  6. Click Save.
