Splitting Activation Groups
Lease administrators and accountants can split activation groups at any time, if required. Activation groups can be split into one or more identical groups, with the selected subset of units inside.
Users can also create multiple activation groups at inception in their lease component definition where they can associate units to the appropriate group.
You may want to split an activation group for reasons such as:
- At inception you know that you will not receive all your units at once, and you would like to start operating with a portion of them. When defining your lease component, distribute your units into multiple activation groups where one group can be activated while the other is still waiting for units to be received.
- The activation group is active, and you would like to exercise a purchase option or termination option for only a subset of the units. Split the activation group, and then reassess just the one that needs the terms exercised.
- A casualty has occurred for one of the units in the activation group. Split the activation group to enter a casualty (which will apply to all units in the selected group).
The only times activation group cannot be split are:
- There is an open draft for the activation group.
- There is only one unit.
- If it is a bulk asset.
To split an activation group:
- From the required activation group, click
> Split Activation Group. - Click
to add activation groups. Once you have added all your activation groups, enter an Activation Group Name for each one, then click Next. Note that you can create as many activation groups as required, but each activation group must have a unit assigned to it. - The unit distribution section lists all units under the original activation group. For each unit, select the activation group you would like it assigned to. Click Next.
- Review your changes, then click Split. The application loads the original activation group. Newly created activation groups can be viewed in the navigation panel on the left.
Note: If required, click Cancel at the top of the page while the activation group is in "Splitting" status to cancel the split and return the activation group to its original status.
