Additional Data

Additional data can be configured in transitions, and works in conjunction with a condition to determine the future workflow path of a submission based on a previous transition.

You can use additional data to specify a code that is associated to the submission when a transition is performed. This code (or codes) then replaces the name of the transition in the workflow drop-down and the approver selects the code to transition the submission. Then, in subsequent transitions you can set up the "Additional Data Allowed" condition to only allow the transition to be performed if the submission has this code.

For example, you may want to set this up if you have a global reviewer who assesses the request early in the approval process to determine which levels of approval are required before the submission can be finally approved.

In the example workflow snippet below, the Global Reviewer can select either Code 1 or Code 2 when sending the submission to Approver A. If they select Code 1, Approver A only has the option of sending the submission to Approver B when they approve the submission.
