Financial Analysis Reporting Module Settings
This page contains the settings for reports that are available with the Financial Analysis Reporting Module license. In order to generate Financial Dashboard reports in company and group currencies, exchange rates must either be synced or regularly imported into the application via Data Management.
To sync exchange rates, the application uses a Nakisa API to read the Exchange Rate table of one system in Master Data Configuration, and populates the Reporting Exchange Rate table used in the Financial Dashboards and Disclosure Reports (if you have additional group currencies configured on the Report Settings page). Note that to sync exchange rates, you must have a leading system that contains exchange rates for all currency pairs.
Nakisa recommends that you populate your exchange rates using one of these methods (sync or import) and not a combination of the two. Note that if both methods are used, the application uses the latest exchange rate that was uploaded or synced.
To configure the Financial Analysis Reporting Module settings:
- Click Application Menu > Settings.
- In the left-menu, click Financial Analysis Reporting Module Settings under Settings.
- Configure settings or enable or disable the switches as needed.
- Click Save.
To import exchange rates via Data Management (option 1):
- Click Application Menu > Data Management.
- Under Available Templates, click Download to get the
ReportingExchangeRate_Template.xlsx
. Update the file with exchange rates according to the configuration settings on the Financial Analysis Reporting Module Settings and Report Settings pages. If you configure the settings with unique rate types, the largest set of exchange rates to maintain is:- A set of spot rates (e.g., M) for contract to company currency (Financial Dashboards)
- A set of spot rates (e.g., M) for contract to group currency (Financial Dashboards)
- A set of month-end rates (e.g., X) for contract to group 1 currency (Disclosure Reports)
- A set of month-end rates (e.g., X) for contract to group 2 currency (Disclosure Reports)
- A set of month-average rates (e.g., Y) for contract to month-average group 1 currency (Expense Reports)
- A set of month-average rates (e.g., Y) for contract to month-average group 2 currency (Expense Reports)
- Click Create New Batch. This opens the data update options on the right side of the screen.
- Select ReportingExchangeRate in the first drop-down, and then select one of the following options:
- Load Data: Deletes all existing records, and loads the new data.
- Insert Data. A third drop-down appears with the following options:
- Insert Only: Inserts the new records and ignores the existing ones (based on ID).
- Merge Existing: Inserts the new records, and merges records that already exist.
- Overwrite Existing: Inserts the new records, and overwrites existing records with new values.
- Update Data
- Update Only: Only imports records that already exist, and updates them.
- Update or Insert: Updates existing records, and inserts the new ones. Note that updating records does not include removing/deleting records.
- Delete Data: Deletes all records with matching IDs as the ones that are being imported.
- Apply Delta
- Click Upload in table and navigate to your file of exchange rates.
- Click Run. The upload is complete once the Status field changes to "Successful".
- Repeat this process regularly as needed.
To sync and read exchange rates stored in a single system (option 2):
- Contact Nakisa Support to enable the API (used to sync exchange rates) in Nakisa Cloud Platform.
- Click Application Menu > Settings.
- In the left-menu, click Financial Analysis Reporting Module Settings under Settings.
- Enable the switch "Enable Exchange Rate Sync".
Note: Do not use the exchange rate sync if your exchange rates are maintained using currency triangulation (i.e. reference currency is configured).
- In the setting Enter Specific System, enter the Object ID of the leading system (found by searching for CT_System in the Entity Navigation Tool). The exchange rates from this system are used to populate the reporting exchange rate table. For fully connected or hybrid systems, Nakisa recommends syncing exchange rates regularly.
Note: The specified system must have exchange rates for all currency pairs, otherwise calculations will be impacted. If an exchange rate is not present, the resulting value in the dashboard or report is displayed as zero.
- To display group currency reports, ensure the system has at least one company set up with Currency Type 30 in the Exchange Rate Type table that matches the configuration on this page.
- The API syncs exchange rates monthly by default. The date at the top-right of the Financial Dashboards screen indicates the last time the exchange rates were synced. To update the exchange rates, contact Nakisa Support. Note that Nakisa will only sync your exchange rates up to 10 times a month.
Tip: Search for the entity "ReportingExchangeRate" in the Entity Navigation Tool to view the exchange rates currently populated in the Reporting Exchange Rate table.
