Workflows
Workflows are used for submission and modification approvals. You can use the workflow designer to configure the steps and transitions that a submission moves through during its approval life-cycle. Additionally, the workflow can be configured to determine the users with access to approve the submission at different stages of the workflow. Before you can begin operating under a submission and registering expenses, a complete approval workflow must be set up that transitions the submission from Draft to Approved status.
Workflows may be different for each lease area, business unit, or company code, and can contain different validations or conditions that are triggered as you transition submissions. For example, workflows can be configured to require additional approval steps for larger budget amounts.
A default workflow is available out of the box that applies to all lease areas, business units, and companies. This workflow can be used as is, or you may develop new workflows for specific objects.
Here is an example default workflow:
A new workflow, by default, only includes a single draft workflow step and is inactive. You must modify the workflow by adding additional steps and transitions, and then activate it in order to use it. Note that if you want to modify an existing active workflow, you must first deactivate it, make the necessary changes, and then reactivate it.
