Using the Node Menu

Each node has a menu with additional tasks. Depending on the org chart and organizational object you are viewing, the Node menu can have the following options, but note that not all options are available to all users, based on their roles and security permissions:

For Org Units:

  • Set the org chart with the selected org unit as the default root (in O-O-S-P environments)
  • View the details panel for the org unit
  • Create a new scenario starting from the selected org unit
  • Load the Dashboard for the selected org unit
  • Access the Trends for the org unit
  • Load the Organizational Overview for the selected org unit
  • Add this org unit to the Compare module
  • Pagination for large numbers of child nodes. If a parent node has more than 50 children, the first and last node will have double-lined borders. (They will look like a stack of nodes.) Clicking the node menu opens a pagination option with arrows to let you scroll through the additional child nodes.

For Positions

  • Set the org chart with the selected position as the default root

  • View the details panel for the position
  • Create a new scenario starting from the selected position
  • Load the Dashboard
  • Access the Trends for the position
  • Load the Organization Overview
  • Find similar positions. This option is available to HR, Manager, and Scenario Creator users, and allows them to find other positions with comparable data for job, job family, and key position indicators. (You can also access this data from the Similar Positions icon on the Details panel for the object.)
  • Add this position to the Compare module
  • Assign a new Successor to the position.
  • Pagination for large numbers of child nodes. If a parent node has more than 50 children, the first and last node will have double-lined borders. (They will look like a stack of nodes.) Clicking the node menu opens a pagination option with arrows to let you scroll through the additional child nodes.

For Employees

  • View the details panel for the employee
  • Send the employee an email
  • Find people with a similar profile. This option is available to HR, Manager, and Scenario Creator users, and allows them to find other employees with comparable ratings for critical resource indicator, job, job family, risk of loss, and scarce skill indicator. (You can also access this data from the Similar People icon on the Details panel for the object.)
  • Add this employee to the Compare module
  • Add this employee to a Succession Pool.

Within Scenarios

  • View the details panel of the node
  • Assign a Work Area if you are using AOR security
  • Set the background color of a node
  • Create Org Unit, Position, or Employee
  • Edit Org Unit, Position, or Employee
  • Delimit or Delete Org Unit, Position, or Employee
  • Clone the Org Unit, or Position,
  • Move the node to assign it to a different node in the scenario
  • Load the Dashboard
  • Load the Organization Overview
  • Find employees or positions that are similar
  • Add the node to the Compare module
  • Add the node to the Dropzone
  • Manage the relationship between this object and other objects
  • Set a note on this object
  • Assign a successor to a position (in Succession Planning)

To access the Node menu:

Click the colored drop-down menu on the left side of the object.
